Loads more prayers needed for Christchurch

Tonight I spoke with the Principal of the school we sent the cards to. Very sadly today, their school received a yellow sticker which means they need a lot more checking by Engineers before they are allowed back in. Even sadder, two parents of children from the school and missing presumed dead in the CBD. I hope you get a chance to finish your cards. We will work on some more messages of support on Wednesday and Thursday this week.

Another magic day in Room 7

Words can't explain how proud Mrs K is of everyone in Room 7. Today we held a time of silence for everyone in Christchurch. We made cards to send to Mrs K's friend's school in Christchurch. Mrs K was so impressed with the effort that went into the cards and the sensitive messages.

In room 7 Mrs. K surprised the class with two caterpillars but one sneaky little one got out of the bag on the way into the class room so Mrs. K and the rest of the class rushed outside and searched everywhere until they found it hiding in the bushes. We got the caterpillar and brought it back to his other friend who had already settled in and was busy munching away on the plants in the classroom and the sneaky little caterpillar was back home.

Hello world. My name is Tayla. I’m 12 years old and my interests are dancing and performing. I do Jazz and Hip-hop. I love drama and singing (even though I can’t sing). Hello there my name is Tayla and I’m going to tell you about me. First of all I’m going to tell about my hobbies.
One of my hobbies is ballet. I love ballet. I’m in grade five and I also do jazz and hip-hop. And I am crazy about chocolate and I am a little bit weird according to my friends but I don’t know what they are talking about. Sometimes I can be really annoying and sometimes I just talk too much. I love guitar and singing. Sometimes I sing in the shower and my sisters think that I sound really bad but I just tell them that they can’t sing either so yeah. I have a pet dog called diesel and she is a y head fox terrier and she is really weird. Once she peed on my bed and I am also thinking about getting a pet mouse and I want to call it Rufus. Yes I know it’s a funny name but I like that name. I also like to go down to my motorbike track and just play around on my motorbike. Once my sister went for a ride and we could not see her and she fell in the ditch.

Hello everybody my name is Quintin and my favorite thing to do is play video games. My favorite game is a computer game called Minecraft. It is a fun game where you can make a mine where you find ore like coal, iron, or the best of all diamond. You make tools like axes, pickaxes, shovels and swords. The best part is when it becomes night. That’s when Monsters come out and try to destroy you. There are Zombies, skeletons, spiders and creepers which explode if you get too close!!! If you play the full version you can do all this and more. But if you don’t want to buy it you can play the free version. Well that’s all, goodbye.

In Room 7 our e-learning teacher gave our class some caterpillars. But unfortunately one of them slipped off the plant on the way to the class. So we sent out a search crew to find it. It was found after a while and returned safely. Ever since then they have been munching away. Then one day one of them went for a trip up the wall onto the roof to hang. Meanwhile the other one went missing until we found it on the edge of the table in a chrysalis.

HELLO EARTHLINGS, I am Alysha and I come in peace. I live in a little town of Mosgiel in New Zealand. Most of you people would probably not have heard of Mosgiel but I would not live anywhere else. Fabulous day in Room 7

We had an awesome time today. We learnt a lot more about the wiki and how we can add our own information to our pages. We had a play with Tagxedo and used Bighugelabs to create our popart posters to go with our amazing self portraits. Matt amazed me by arranging his then number coding it to get the exact result he wanted - Well done Matt.

Our caterpillar miracle!

I still wonder how it was possible for me to spot the little runaway outside the school fence...

With a little help from my friends I was able to encourage the runaway onto a leaf from our plants.

Photo fun today!

Today we went outside in groups of 3 and took 10 photos of each person.  We are using them for self portraits and to make POPART posters.  It was such a gorgeous day to be outside in the sun!  We are learning to download and compress our photos, then upload them.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for such a wonderful day today!  I felt soooo welcome and I just loved working with you all.  The highlight of my day was definitely finding the caterpillar - thank you for a wonderful story Alysha. (I love the way you write - phrases like 'room seven was ecstatic' and 'lured the caterpillar to crawl on the leaf' make my soul dance and sometimes even makes me dance on my chair).    I am so happy that you are now all members of the class wiki.  Please check it later tonight for some new additions like your own pages.   A huge thank you to you all for the welcome, the help and the fun today.  YAY YAY YAY

Caterpillar rescue...

On 3^rd of February while Mrs. Kenneally was taking us for e-learning she brought in 2 caterpillars that someday will turn into monarch butterflies. The whole of room seven was ecstatic! But when Mrs. Kenneally looked at the plant she only saw 1 caterpillar? She said it must have crawled off the plant when she put it outside the classroom. Soon it was lunchtime and we still hadn’t found the little critter but when Mrs. Kenneally went to get her lunch out of the car guess who she found crawling across the ground! It was the other caterpillar! She quickly got the plant and lured the caterpillar to crawl on the leaf because if you touch a caterpillar before it turns into a butterfly it will turn into a deformed butterfly.
