Week 2 by the famous Matthew from Room 7!

Rugby world cup week 2!
We start with date:
14/09/11 Samoa vs. Namibia. Samoa made a convincing win 49-12.  The same day Canada opened with a win over Tonga 25-20 in the last minutes of play. The Scots played in Invercargill again this time against Georgia, which was horrible game because it was just a drop goal and penalties game, 15-6. 15/09/11 Russia takes in their cold war enemies USA. Russia got its first rugby world points but USA got the only try but USA won 13-6.
16/09/11 The All Blacks take on Japan. All Blacks have their win over Tonga and are at the top of Pool A but have some injuries. But that didn’t affect the thrashing win 83-7.
17/09/11 Fiji take on the Springboks which was in the driver’s seat to win.  The Springboks win 49-3 and makes them at the top of Pool D.  Argentina destroyed Romania 43-8.  First out of two biggest games this round, the Wallabies takes on the Irish, again penalties and drop goal. Ireland upset the Wallabies 15-6.
18/09/11 second biggest game of the round, Samoa takes on Wales.  At half time Samoa lead but one penalty and a Shane Williams try made Samoa get upset 17-10.  I went to this game in person to watch England take on Georgia.   At half time England lead 17-10 and had a man in the bin but in the second half England thrashed Georgia 41-10, poor first half awesome second half. 1. Matthew - really likes this review of Week Two, so much so that I am putting a post about it on our class blog with a link to the original post here. I really like how you've improved your review of the week by stating your opinion about the game, that would help someone to understand the game if they didn't know about rugby, how Canada beat Tonga, or if someone did know about rugby, maybe just saw the score between England and Georgia and thought it wasn't a close game, you provided details about half time and how close it was, so that was good. I went to Samoa and Wales which was here in Hamilton

  2. Kia Ora Matthew! I am having a hard time keeping track of the results and your review helps me put the last two weeks back into perspective! Thankyou! Are you going to any games? I would love to know what you think of the new stadium...?

  3. Hi Matthew, thanks for another fantastic review of RWC. I really like the changes and improvements you made to this weeks review. It is awesome to see how focused you are on your writing. I would love to hear more about your experience at the game you went to. Do you think you could do a separate blog post on that game? Please make sure you check out the blogpost that shows where Mr Webb blogged about you. You might need to respond to your comments too.

  4. Wow

Thanks Matthew, I have been following mainly the All Blacks games but now feel I am up to date with what happened during this week. I teach a year 3-4 class in Otorohanga NZ. Thanks for such a comprehensive report.

  5. Wow, Matthew! What a review of the weeks so far! I am NOT a rugby fan (I only just learned that a try is worth 5 points). BUT, I am so enjoying the RWC. I most enjoyed the Ireland/Aussie game!!!

Your wrap-ups of the week make the RWC easy to understand and follow for people like me!! Thank you!!! Looking forward to next week so I hope there will be an update then!
